Jillian Supino | Senior Marketing Strategist

What was your favorite session to attend at INBOUND 2023?

My favorite session was the Remote Company Culture by Jen Spencer of SmartBug Media. She talked about how to create a positive and connected work culture for her company which has been fully remote since its inception. I really appreciated her approach to the topic from Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and I appreciated how she included very concrete examples of concept implementation.

Who or what speaker were you most excited to see at the event?

I was very excited to see Dharmesh and Brian (co-founders of Hubspot) speak about how they came together and founded the company.

How will you take what you learned at INBOUND 2023 and apply it to your work moving forward?

A lot of the applicable information I received I plan to pass along to my clients. Many of our clients are utilizing Hubspot and this conference gave me the tools I need to further conversations about their marketing efforts and opportunities for new Inbound marketing initiatives.

What are three things you learned or gained from attending INBOUND 2023?

  1. Bring a water bottle and keep it filled.
  2. Don't be afraid to say hello to a stranger. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming.
  3. See and do as much as you can, but keep some me/downtime in your schedule.

What new Hubspot features are you most excited about?

I'm very excited about the optimized SalesHub features. I think this will be a game changer for a lot of companies that are using the full Hubspot suite, and I see many opportunities for the SG clients.

What was the most memorable or enjoyable experience you had during your time in Boston for this event?

John Mulaney's stand-up was by far the highlight of the week for me. It was a wonderful surprise to see him perform and I don't think I stopped laughing for more than a few seconds throughout his entire set.

What was your favorite session to attend at INBOUND 2023?

My favorite session by far was the very last one I attended with Kayla Mehojah. She's an incredible speaker and a master content marketer, she gave many case study examples and insights that I am already applying in my realm of work. We were given a workbook to help engage us in applying these methodologies and best practices into actionable next steps. I loved it so much.

There were so many sessions that I attended and loved (and oh boy did I pack them in) so I have to share my top ones:

  • B2B to B2C Marketing Revamp: Campaigns & SEO with Andrew Warden, CMO SEMRUSH
  • Cracking the Customer Code (With AI) with Oji Udezue, CPO Typeform
  • Less Content More Impact with Kayla Mehojah, Content Marketer at WordPress VIP

Who or what speaker were you most excited to see at the event?

I was really looking forward to visiting our HubSpot Partner Computan at their booth and chatting with the team in person!

How will you take what you learned at INBOUND 2023 and apply it to your work moving forward?

I got so much good information about the updates and improvements being made to HubSpot CMS and a great new connection (Jon McLaren) at the HubSpot Developer booth. My goal is to not only improve my know-how in building and integrating WordPress sites with HubSpot CMS but to build our team of developers in this area as well.

With new features like React CMS Beta not only can developers build with React on CMS Hub, we now have UI Extensions, where developers can build micro apps that run right inside of HubSpot.

What are three things you learned or gained from attending INBOUND 2023?

  1. Don't overbook yourself with sessions. I definitely overdid it the first day and tried to get into talks back-to-back. I was so overwhelmed with information and just exhausted. Note for the future, make time in between sessions to walk around, connect, and enjoy the other aspects of INBOUND.
  2. Bring a notebook/tablet device. I'm glad I brought my notebook because carrying around my laptop was too heavy and I barely used it. Also, the wifi was not great so I wasn't getting a lot of work done.
  3. Connect with people! I made many connections (even internationally) with people in my realm of work, and I'm so excited to collaborate and learn more from them.

What new Hubspot features are you most excited about?

AI. AI. AI. Hahaha.

What was the most memorable or enjoyable experience you had during your time in Boston for this event?

I loved the food trucks and garden area, even though it was SILLY hot outside, it was a lot of fun being outdoors and enjoying music, mingling, delicious meals, and FREE ice pops and drinks. I could've spent all afternoon outside. The HubSpot after-dark event was an unforgettable experience. It was filled with excitement and energy, and I had an absolute blast.

What was your favorite session to attend at INBOUND 2023?

My favorite session was, "How AI Reshaping the Future of Sales and Marketing" on the Main Stage with the CEO of Hubspot, Yamini Rangan, and the Chief Product Officer of LinkedIn, Tomer Cohen.

Who or what speaker were you most excited to see at the event?

I was most excited to see Steven Bartlett.

How will you take what you learned at INBOUND 2023 and apply it to your work moving forward?

I will use some of the things I learn when I am brainstorming with new creative ideas and also when I am coming up with strategic marketing planning.

What are three things you learned or gained from attending INBOUND 2023?

I learned that AI is going to take away my job as a graphic designer...lol. I learned about all the new Hubspot features. I also learned about the three pillars of driving effective marketing and sales orchestration.

What new Hubspot features are you most excited about?

It was cool how they incorporate AI tools for creating your own website pages.

What was the most memorable or enjoyable experience you had during your time in Boston for this event?

I think the first time just seeing how big the building was where the event was held was pretty amazing. Also the rooftop party. The view was breathtaking (and the birds coming down to eat off our entries).

What was your favorite session to attend at INBOUND 2023?

My favorite session definitely had to be, “New Email Marketing Test Ideas and Pitfalls to Avoid” with speakers Pierce Ujjainwalla, Co-founder/CEO of Knak, and Jay Schwedelson, CEO/Founder of Outcome Media and SubjectLine.com.

I also enjoyed the debate he [Jay Schwedelson] had with Nancy Harhut, Chief Creative Officer at HBT Marketing. They were both incredibly engaging on stage and gave excellent email marketing advice when it came to what the best strategies are when analyzing and developing content.

Who or what speaker were you most excited to see at the event?

Going into it, I don’t think that I had a particular speaker I was most excited to see. I thought the lineup looked pretty good for those that would be on the main stage like Reese Witherspoon and Derek Jeter. I will say though, after attending all of my sessions, Steven Bartlett was high up there for incredible speakers. If I didn’t know him before, I definitely know him now.

How will you take what you learned at INBOUND 2023 and apply it to your work moving forward?

As soon as I left my first few sessions, I was so excited to apply what I had just learned to some of my work. I remember swinging open my laptop to make a few adjustments to this new blog and targeted email campaign I had been working on. I was able to pick up on what the latest methods are and what is trending in the world of marketing when it comes to social media management, emailing, customer relations, and lead generation.

Something that I heard a lot of throughout most of these events was to test. Test. Test. Test. If you have a new idea or strategy you want to implement into a marketing campaign, don’t be afraid to try it, just make sure you are testing it out and collecting the necessary data to compare it later.

What are three things you learned or gained from attending INBOUND 2023?

  1. My coworkers do not sleep. That or they are just morning people. Something of which, I definitely am not.
  2. Always be open to making new connections. It can be kind of intimidating to talk to others when you are in a new environment and everyone is a stranger, but I had to remind myself that we were all there for the same thing. You never know what kind of connections you'll form or the individuals you'll encounter. During that week, I had the chance to meet a multitude of amazing people. Although I'm quite certain Emily beat all of us out with her 30+ connections. Then again, Shane got to connect with Dharmesh, so I am pretty sure that exchanging contacts with the creator of Hubspot is equivalent to 100 scans (lol).
  3. You either dress to impress or you dress for comfort. I saw so many incredibly stylish people there while attending the event (Krystoff and Jillian included). It was awesome to see the diversity in fashion. I loved it. But you can also dress for comfort and no one will judge. Just obviously don’t pull up in sweats. Although I don't think anyone would have in that 90º weather.

What new Hubspot features are you most excited about?

Hubspot is going to be introducing so many cool new features in Q4! I think I am most excited to see their new campaign assistance tools. With AI it will allow users the ability to develop landing pages and ad copy right on the spot.

What was the most memorable or enjoyable experience you had during your time in Boston for this event?

Getting to be around my team for that entire week was so much fun. I would definitely love to do it again.
